In den 60er Jahren herrscht Arbeitskräftemangel im Westen. Deshalb werden Arbeiter aus anderen Ländern angeworben. Viele der Neu-Berliner kommen aus der Türkei.

Der Friseur Suleyman Ilkan arbeitet bei einem Friseur am Bahnhof Zoo und lernt nebenbei Deutsch. So wird er zum Dolmetscher für seine Landsleute, die am Bahnhof Zoo ankommen.
